Sixteen works of art at the Louvre

16 works of art in the Louvre

To make the visit to the Louvre manageable, I’ve selected 12 works of art to see. I have to map out the locations of each of these so we can navigate the halls of the Louvre as efficiently as possible or we’ll be there for a month.

Les trois grâces (The three Kharites) is a Roman copy of a Greek statue

Le Radeau de la Méduse (The Raft of the Medusa) by Théodore Géricault
Winged Victory of Samothrace is a sculpture of the Greek goddess Nike (Victory)

The Coronation of Napoleon by Jacques-Louis David (the painting is larger than Napoleon!)
Gabrielle d’Estrées et une de ses sœurs is my favourite painting in the Louvre

La Liberté guidant le peuple (Liberty Leading the People) by Eugène Delacroix

Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss by Antonio Canova (very romantic!)
Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Giuseppe Archimboldo’s allegories of the Seasons and the Elements
